What is a Tartan Sporran?

The sporran is a Scottish Gaelic for “purse” which is a traditional part of scottish highland dress and is purely made up of Tartan & Leather, it’s a pouch that performs the same function as pockets on the pocketless kilt which helps you to keep your belongings like phone, money or wallet. It comes with an adjustable belt and chain to hold well. Tartan Sporran is the best matching accessory to look perfect.

Wearing a Sporran

Sporrans should be worn about 3 to 5 inches below the top of your kilt. You yourself will know what feels comfortable, but they are always worn in the centre of your Kilt. In this way, it’s the best kilt accessory to look perfect from top to bottom like a real kilt lover.

Some Famous Tartan Sporrans

Let’s talk about design. A Sporran has changed over time to become more practical, initially extremely simple in design, and gathered at the top by basic drawstrings. This feature has stayed consistent in the design of a sporran, and that is the tassels at the front. When sporrans were first made, materials that were used were either clan tartan fabric, leather or skin.

Types of Tartan Sporrans:

Today, there are many types of Sporrans that are suitable for different occasions, like:
